Kathryn Collins of Interlaken Becomes Vice President of Strategic Planning

LAKEWOOD, NJ, June 14, 2013 — Kathryn Burns Collins, FACHE, of Interlaken has been named vice president of strategic planning at AcuteCare Health System, the region’s leading independent provider of hospital-based, long term acute care. In this newly created leadership role, Collins joins the senior management team at ACHS, which operates Specialty Hospital at Kimball — soon-to-be Specialty Hospital of Central Jersey, Lakewood. The 50-bed long term acute care hospital (LTACH), located within Kimball Medical Center, offers an intensive level of care for patients with complex medical conditions who require a hospital stay extending beyond 25 days. This “hospital-within-a-hospital” is fully licensed by the state Department of Health and Senior Services and has earned accreditation from The Joint Commission, the nation’s standard-bearer for quality and safety in patient care.“We are pleased to welcome Kathryn to our senior management team, where she will play an integral role in our plans for future growth and in forging relationships in the communities we serve,” says Violeta Peters, R.N., M.A., chief executive officer of AcuteCare Health System. “Her extensive record in health care management will certainly be an asset to our organization as we enter our second decade with new opportunities to expand and diversify on the horizon.”With more than 30 years of hospital-based health care experience, Collins has been part of the leadership teams at Meridian Health, Neptune, and Barnabas Health, Livingston — two of New Jersey’s largest health care systems. For the past 12 years, she has been a member of the adjunct faculty in the Health Care Management Graduate Program at the College of St. Elizabeth, Morristown.

After receiving her nursing diploma from the Ann May School of Nursing at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, Collins earned her bachelor of science degree in biology and health from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, and her master’s degree in public administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
